And Not Boardrooms!
By Rob Diepersloot

I grew up on a dairy farm, where my earliest memories are of feeding calves before sunrise and watching them thrive on the very first food nature provides: colostrum.
For farmers, colostrum isn’t a trend, it’s a lifeline.
It sustains newborn calves, protects the health of our herds, and represents a responsibility we carry to do things the right way.
Today, colostrum has exploded into the wellness industry. And for good reason: It’s an incredible supplement with remarkable benefits. But as demand has grown, so has the number of brands treating it like just another commodity. Many of these companies are built in boardrooms rather than barns. They might have strong marketing and big budgets, but too often, they’re disconnected from the true source of colostrum, and that distance shows in their products and practices.
One of the reasons we started WonderCow, beyond the amazing ways colostrum has supported our own family, is because we saw too much low-quality product flooding the market. Some companies chase the cheapest supply they can find, while using their financial muscle to make it look “premium.” That’s not transparency, and it’s not fair to the families who deserve to know the truth about what they’re consuming.
We believe people deserve honesty about the difference between whole vs skimmed colostrum, the reality of U.S.-sourced vs imported material, and the meaning (or lack thereof) behind “grass-fed” claims. Did you know… these claims aren’t regulated or verified by anyone?
I’ll admit, I get fired up about this. But it’s because I care deeply about colostrum and the people who rely on it. So, let’s break it down. Here are some key differences between farmers and large corporations when it comes to your colostrum:
1. Source vs. Spreadsheet
As farmers, we work directly with the animals and the land every single day. We see firsthand the quality of colostrum and know how it should be handled to preserve its full power. Large corporations often rely on data, supply contracts, and financial metrics. These are important tools, but far removed from the source itself.
2. Quality vs. Margins
On the farm, our reputation depends on quality. We feed our own families what we produce, so cutting corners isn’t an option. In contrast, when profit is the main driver, decisions often shift toward efficiency and margin… sometimes at the expense of purity and potency.
3. Whole vs. Stripped Colostrum
Whole colostrum is packed with bioactive molecules, fats, proteins, and immune factors that work together as nature intended. Farmers understand this balance. Some corporate-backed brands strip colostrum of its fat or casein to fit their production models—but in doing so, they also strip away much of its effectiveness. We keep it whole, so you can experience whole, complete benefits!
4. Generations vs. Investors
My family has been farming for seven generations. Knowledge here isn’t bought; It’s lived, shared, and passed down. We understand how to care for the land, the animals, and the nutrients they provide because it’s part of who we are. Investors may bring capital, but they can’t buy that kind of experience. There’s something about having the cows right in your backyard that just changes the way we interact and care for them.
5. Mission vs. Exit
Our mission is simple: to nourish families and protect the integrity of colostrum. We’re not building WonderCow to sell it off in three years: We’re building it for the long haul. For our kids, for your kids, and for anyone who deserves honest, farm-fresh nutrition.
Private equity firms often focus on growth and exits.
Farmers focus on legacy and responsibility.
The Bottom Line
Colostrum deserves to remain whole, natural, and true to its original form so it can deliver the benefits nature intended. It shouldn’t be diluted or over-processed just to improve quarterly results.
People deserve transparency and quality they can trust. At WonderCow, we’re committed to delivering colostrum the way nature designed it: straight from the farm, with integrity intact.
When you choose WonderCow, you’re not just choosing a supplement. You’re choosing to trust a farmer. And that’s a trust we’ll never compromise.
