Everyone has their own reason for wanting to slow down aging. For me, it comes down to energy and mental clarity.
With five kids, a dairy farm, and WonderCow, I need a high level of energy to show up well in every area of my life. I want to be intentional with my wife and my kids. I want to be present. I want to be a good steward of the gifts that God has given me.
One of the most surprising things I have learned on this journey with WonderCow is how deeply aging is connected to gut and immune health. I grew up watching newborn calves thrive on colostrum, but I never imagined how relevant it would be for adults who want to stay strong, feel good, and age with more resilience.
As we get older, our bodies go through a lot of subtle changes. Our energy drops. Our mitochondria slow down. Our beneficial gut bacteria decline. Inflammation rises. And our cells do not repair daily wear and tear the way they used to.
Most people do not realize that close to 80% of the immune system lives in the gut. This means your gut plays a huge role in how quickly you age, how well you feel, and how strong your immune system stays.
This is why colostrum is so special.

How Colostrum Supports Healthy Aging
1. Supports a Strong Gut
Colostrum contains natural oligosaccharides, which are special prebiotic compounds that feed beneficial bacteria like Bifidobacteria. These bacteria naturally decline as we age, and with them, our ability to produce butyrate also declines. Butyrate fuels the cells of your gut lining and supports immune balance.
Colostrum also helps strengthen and seal the gut wall. When the gut barrier is compromised, unwanted compounds can pass into the bloodstream and trigger inflammation throughout the body. By supporting the integrity of this barrier, colostrum helps reduce that inflammatory burden.
At the same time, a healthier gut improves nutrient absorption. This is something that often gets overlooked. Even if you are eating well, your body still has to absorb and use those nutrients. When your gut is functioning properly, your body can better access the vitamins, minerals, and building blocks it needs to support energy, repair, and overall longevity.
A healthy gut also supports a healthy vagus nerve. The vagus nerve is one of the main communication pathways between your gut and your brain. It helps regulate stress, inflammation, digestion, and even mood. When the gut is inflamed or imbalanced, this communication can break down.
When the gut is supported, the vagus nerve can function more effectively. This helps the body stay in a more balanced state and improves recovery. Over time, this gut brain connection plays a meaningful role in how we age and how resilient we feel day to day.
2. Helps Balance the Immune System
Aging often brings an increase in low grade inflammation known as inflammaging. Colostrum contains PRPs, which are small immune signaling molecules that help bring the immune system back into balance.
Colostrum is also rich in immunoglobulins, which are antibodies that support immunity. By reducing the overall load on the immune system and helping the body respond more appropriately, immunoglobulins play an important role in lowering inflammation and protecting long term health.
A more balanced immune system means less unnecessary inflammation and better resilience as you age.
3. Reduces Oxidative Stress
As we age, oxidative stress rises and antioxidant levels fall. This leads to damage at the cellular level, including DNA, mitochondria, and cell membranes.
Colostrum contains compounds like lactoferrin and PRPs that help reduce free radical damage and protect against oxidative stress. Lactoferrin also helps regulate iron levels in the body, which is important because excess iron can drive oxidative damage as we age.
By helping control oxidative stress, colostrum supports healthier cells and better long term function.
4. Supports Skin Health and Repair
Skin is one of the most visible reflections of what is happening inside the body. As collagen production slows and inflammation increases, skin begins to lose its firmness and elasticity.
Colostrum contains natural growth factors that support tissue repair and collagen production. These growth factors play a role in maintaining skin elasticity and helping the body regenerate healthy tissue.
Lactoferrin also plays a key role here. It has been shown to support fibroblast activity, which are the cells responsible for producing collagen in your skin. More fibroblast activity means more natural collagen production, which supports stronger, more resilient skin over time.
When you combine this with reduced inflammation, improved nutrient absorption, and better gut health, you start to see how skin health is really an inside out process.
Why Whole Colostrum Matters
Not all colostrum is created equal. One thing I have learned is that keeping colostrum whole matters.
Whole colostrum contains fat, proteins, and bioactive compounds that are designed to work together. When you remove parts of it or over process it, you lose that natural synergy.
That is why true colostrum powder should have a rich, golden color. That color is a signal that the full spectrum of nutrients is still there, working together the way nature intended.
It is not about isolating one ingredient. It is about keeping the whole system intact so your body can actually use it the way it was designed.

Why This Matters to Me
Everyone has their own reason for wanting to slow down aging. For me, it comes down to energy and mental clarity.
With five kids, a dairy farm, and WonderCow, I need a high level of energy to show up well in every area of my life. I want to be intentional with my wife and my kids. I want to be present. I want to be a good steward of the gifts that God has given me.
That is what drives me.
It has been a blessing to build a product that has helped me support my own health while also helping other families do the same. That is something I do not take lightly.
You cannot stop aging.
But you can support your body in a way that helps you live with more energy, clarity, and purpose.
And for me, colostrum has become a big part of that.
With gratitude,
Rob Diepersloot
