My Background on the Farm
As many of you know, WonderCow’s roots run deep in dairy farming—seven generations deep. Growing up in a dairy family, I learned firsthand the value of hard work year-round. I watched my dad and grandpa dedicate themselves to caring for the cows and managing every aspect of the farm. One of my many jobs was raising baby calves and feeding them colostrum. It became apparent early on that colostrum was pivotal for the health of calves right from the start. It was awesome going to college and studying Dairy Science, where I got to dive deep to understand the incredible benefits of colostrum. That’s where my passion for holistic health grew, and I knew I wanted to bring a nutritional dairy solution to the world.
If you're new here, this is my Grandpa on the dairy back in the day. Seven generations, still going strong!
The Latest Research on Colostrum
It’s no surprise that I love staying up to date on the latest colostrum research. Recently, I was reading insights from Dr. Andrew M. Keech, a leading expert in the field. He’s become a mentor for us here at WonderCow, so I’m grateful to share an additional, external stamp of approval on our products.
Dr. Keech was born and raised on a dairy farm in New Zealand, where he learned early on about the powerful impact that colostrum has on newborn calves’ immune systems. He went on to earn Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics, Chemistry, and eventually Chemical and Process Engineering. He later studied at Oxford, and received his Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Chemical and Process Engineering from University of Canterbury. Since 1997, he has worked in Protein Biochemistry, and has pioneered various findings in the world of colostrum.

Dr. Andrew Keech, Founder of APS BioGroup and Author of Peptide Immunotherapy
All that to say, Dr. Keech is pretty smart. Since reading his book, Peptide Immunotherapy, here are some notes I jotted down and thought were worth sharing. Consider these my Sparknotes that reiterate why the quality of colostrum is so important.
Why does Whole Colostrum powder matter?
The bioactive molecules in colostrum need protection in order to get through digestion and into the gut.
This is why Whole Colostrum is essential.
It contains natural phospholipids (all of them) and Milk Fat Globule Membranes (MFGMs) that protect the bioactive molecules. These ensure that they reach the desired location in your gut to be beneficial and maximize their efficacy.
“If the molecules don’t have this protection, they can lose their value.”
If you skim colostrum and remove the casein and fat, which a lot of brands do today, the bioactive molecules are no longer protected. It becomes very unlikely that they will arrive at the desired location for absorption. This emphasizes yet again how vital it is that the molecules are kept fully intact, as nature intended, so they can do what they were meant to.
Some brands will inject an external phospholipid, like a seed-based lecithin, to hopefully “benefit” the product, but nothing works like the complete array that Whole Colostrum provides. Whole Colostrum is as natural as you can get.
Which is why we make it a top priority that our products never contain any additives, fillers, or mixing agents.
So you can experience the full wonder and range of benefits of colostrum.
We keep it whole, as nature intended.

Why the Value of Your Colostrum Matters
Like any food, quality matters—especially when it comes to supplements. Many brands add fillers and preservatives to cut costs and extend shelf life, but if the goal is to nourish and strengthen our bodies, we should want the best. If we want our bodies to function at their best - or the relative best that each of our unique bodies can, we need to fuel them with top quality, pure resources.
Not all supplements are created (or processed) equally.
Which is why we’re committed to keeping Whole Colostrum natural with no additives, preservatives, GMO ingredients, mixing agents, antibiotics, or anything unnecessary. Our low-temperature, gentle processing ensures that you’re getting colostrum as close to straight from the cow as you can - all while of course knowing that the mama cow fed her calf first.
Extra Bonus!
Whole Colostrum also makes a great co-supplement! If you are taking any pre- or probiotics that the stomach can destroy, these phospholipids & milk fat globule membranes will help you get the most out of them! If you're taking a prebiotic supplement, hoping to nourish the beneficial bacteria, consider how it can sometimes get sidetracked when making its way through the body.
The amazing thing about colostrum - in its whole form - is that because of its phospholipids, it is protected! So you can count on both your prebiotics and your colostrum getting to where you wanted them to go. If we’re buying supplements to support our health, they might as well do what we buy them to, right?
Ok, Colostrum 201 over for now. Thanks for tuning in!
Keep living wonderfully,
Founder Rob
